Regenerating Flemish industry parks REFLIP. The built environment as circular economy resource (KU Leuven-C2) (2021-2023/25)

This research examines how spatial transition processes of Flemish Industry parks can become (more) circular. On top of considering circularity of the built environment as a technical question to close material loops, this research interprets the built environment as a socio-economic and environmental complex system. The research mobilizes iterative design, life cycle environmental impact assessment, operations research, and scenario thinking to bridge and integrate these two complementary perspectives and currently disconnected data-levels.
